About Our District Commissioner

David Lemme has been a Scouter since the age of eight, when he became a Cub Scout in the Mid-America Council of Nebraska. As a youth he attained First Class Scout, and was an Ordeal member of Order of the Arrow, and then became active in Health Explorers.

After a brief hiatus from Scouting, he became the Cubmaster for the pack in Kirksville, Missouri (Great Rivers Council), then served on Pack committees in Phoenix, Arizona (Theodore Roosevelt Council), Pensacola, Florida (Gulf States Council), and Adak, Alaska (Great Alaska Council).

As his four boys moved up in Scouting, he also served on troop committees, as merit badge counselor, and on training teams for both Cub and Boy Scouts in Adak, AK; Bremerton and Silverdale, WA (Chief Seattle Council); and in Naples, Italy (TransAtlantic Council). While in Italy, he also served as the Order of the Arrow Chapter Advisor for the Mediterranean District, which spans southern Europe from the Azores to Turkey.

David has been in Oak Harbor for most of the past thirteen years, serving the Mount Baker Council and Island District training teams, fulfilling several roles on the district committee, serving as Roundtable Commissioner, and ever remaining active with his troop as a committee member, assistant Scoutmaster, and currently as the Scoutmaster. While in Iwakuni, Japan (Far East Council) for two years, he chaired the troop committee and provided leadership training for both Cub and Boy Scout leaders.

He received his Wood Badge beads nine months after participating in the course in 1994 at Camp Freedom, Germany. He has since staffed three Wood Badge courses, and including Wood Badge course WE1-606-09 which will be held this fall at Fire Mountain. This year he completes 37 years as a registered Scouter.

David is married to Margo Lemme, who also has been active in Scouting as a Cub leader and trainer, Wood Badge staff, and Day Camp director. She is currently the secretary for the Island District committee. They are the proud parents of five adult children. All four of their sons are Eagle Scouts.
