ADULT RECOGNITION FOR UNIT AND DISTRICT SCOUTERS

IN THE KLAHAYA DISTRICT

 

Dear Scouter,

Throughout the year we recognize youth that achieve various ranks or milestones in their Scouting career. But now it’s time to recognize those of you who have excelled in working with the youth in scouting. We encourage you to nominate those you feel are deserving of these honors, and attend the Annual Recognition Event to recognize those Scouters nominated by their peers. The following are the categories that you can nominate those you feel are deserving:

 

  • SILVER BEAVER AWARD: This is the highest award that a Scouter can receive at the council level. In Mount Baker Council only 7 to 12 of your peers will be so honored. This recognition is usually bestowed on individuals who have made a significant contribution in the Scouting movement.

 

  • DISTRICT AWARD OF MERIT: This is the highest honor that a Scouter can receive on the District level. These individuals have shown leadership and have made a significant contribution for the good of the District. If you know someone who fits this description, nominate them for this award.

 

  • COMMISSIONER OF THE YEAR: This nomination can come from fellow commissioners or from the unit level, if your commissioner is doing his or her job nominate them for the recognition they deserve.

 

  • PACK COMMITTEE CHAIR OF THE YEAR: This nomination comes from the unit, if your committee chair has done an exemplary job of running the pack, nominate him or her for the recognition they deserve.

 

  • CUBMASTER OF THE YEAR: These nominations come from the unit committee. Choose those Cubmasters who make the program work and keep it fun for Cubs.

 

  • DEN LEADER OF THE YEAR: These nominations come from the unit committee.

 

  • WEBELOS DEN LEADER OF THE YEAR: These nominations come from the unit committee.

     

  • TROOP COMMITTEE OR VARSITY COMMITTEE CHAIR OF THE YEAR: This nomination comes from the unit, if your committee chair has done an exemplary job of running the troop nominate him or her for the recognition they deserve.

 

  • SCOUTMASTER OF THE YEAR: This nomination comes from the unit committee. Choose those Scoutmasters that have lead the troop on outings and has lead the Scouts by their example.

 

  • VARSITY COACH OF THE YEAR: This nomination comes from the unit committee. That is always there to advise and guide the youth in making the right choices.

     

  • VENTURING ADVISOR OF THE YEAR: This nomination comes from the unit committee. That is always there to advise and guide the youth in making the right choices.

 

  • OUTSTANDING UNIT LEADER: This nomination comes from anyone in a unit recognizing a registered adult leader in the unit for their efforts in the unit that may not fit a category above.

 

  • OUTSTANDING UNIT VOLUNTEER: This nomination comes from anyone in a unit recognizing an adult leader who is not registered but makes a significant contribution in the unit for their efforts in the unit.

     

  • DR. Leeon & Virginia ALLER Memorial AWARD: This nomination comes from the District Committee for one person who has had a positive influence on the success of the districts and its units.
     
  • COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD: Outstanding service to the community by a registered Scout Leader (also meaning Assistant _____, Member of the Unit (or District) Committee, etc.) in one or more of the categories listed, but, not limited to those. Must be unpaid volunteer service.

 

Please take the time to fill out the attached forms in the appropriate categories; send your nominations to the District Selection Committee by February 29, 2012. The more information you can provide the better the committee can make their decisions, and award the recognition deserved by our adult leaders and parents for the time and effort they put into the Scouting program.
