A knowledgeable person, trained by BSA National Camping School or Cub Scout Shooting Sports Trainer, is designated as Cub Scout Resident Camp Shooting Sports Director. He/She reports directly to the Cub Scout Resident Camp Director, but WILL NOT deviate from National BSA standards.
Responsibilities include:
This course is to enable a current adult shooter to become certified as an NRA Certified Instructor, and to also function as a Merit Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts of America Rifle Shooting Merit Badge. It also has an easy path to becoming a Range Safety Officer (RSO) by completing an NRA self-study course once they become a Certified Instructor.
The course will focus on firearms safety and techniques for teaching the sport of shooting to others, especially youth. This is not a marksmanship course, but a course to prepare you to share your shooting expertise with others. A good marksman may not necessarily be a good teacher, and a good teacher need not be a marksman! A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and share will be required of all participants.
Course detail to come.
